Attributes: Do they have an uniqueID?

Hello,

I have the following problem: I would like to know if an attribute has change his name from any baseline to any baseline. I think that the only way to get this information is if an attribute has a uniqueID or something in this way.
Can anybody help me?
thanks!

No, not to my knowledge - maybe DOORS internally has some ID for attributes but it is not available for users.

Also if you rename an attribute the action is marked in history but with the same history type as any other modification and did not find any method to get the previous name of the attribute from history. There is no oldValue retained for this change?

... and, history for the old attribute name becomes 'read locked' because nobody but the adminstrator has current access to that attribute.

I have following scenario:
  • Baseline 1.0: Attribute "A" and "B"
  • Baseline 2.0: Attribute "A" renamed to "C" and "B" renamed" to "A"
  • Baseline 3.0: Attribute "C" renamed to "B"

How do i get, starting from baseline 3.0, that the name of attribute "B" at baseline 1.0 is "A"? If i can not do this i will make the error and assume that attribute "B" at baseline 3.0 is attribute "B" at baseline 1.0, but in fact it is attribute "A".

I dumped all the History properties and see nothing that preserves what changes occurred for a 'modifyAttr' history; it just gives the (new) name of the attr. Sorry.

Perhaps next time you won't rename an attr, you will copy all the values over so you can preserve History for such massive changes.
